The December concert is on Saturday 7th December at 7.30 pm in the Haslemere Hall. J. S. Bach wrote the Christmas Oratorio for the Christmas Season in 1734. The complete version runs for three hours. Not surprisingly the Haslemere Musical Society will perform excerpts.. Also in the programme the orchestra will perform Dvořák’s Symphony No 8 which, in contrast to his other symphonies, is cheery and optimistic. The concert is dedicated to the memory of Thelma Slade who was HMS Chorus Mistress for twenty years. The final piece in the concert is Handel’s Coronation Anthem Zadok the Priest which Thelma loved.
Tickets £17.50, £12.00 and £8.00 (under 18s £9.00, £6.00 and £4.00) available from Haslemere Hall.
The programme is conducted by James Ross.
